Description
Hello everyone I have a 6-7 page research paper to do on "Memory" or any other topic that is in the textbook. I have attached the textbook down bellow. It can be any topic from chapters 1-14. This research paper has to be in APA style. I will be providing all the instructions for it.

RETENTION AND RECALL PROCESSES OF THE HUMAN MEMORY

Abstract
Retention and recall are considered as the most essential functions of the human cognitive
system. The human memory is broadly classified into the short-term and the long-term
memories. While psychological researches have proposed multiple models aimed at explaining
the ideologies of recall and retention of the human memory, the Atkinson and Shiffrin model and
Baddeley’s model are adopted in the current study. The study contends that retention and recall
are highly affected by factors such as testing, sleep, attention, rehearsal, presence of reward
systems and nutrition.

Retention and Recall Processes of the Human Memory
Introduction
The human brain is described by Bechtold et al. (2018) as a tenuous complex entity that
performs emotional and cognitive functions. On the other hand, human memory encompasses the
biological processes that incorporate an array of cognitive traits. According to Viswanathan,
Mylavarapu and Thomas (2018), human knowledge is a collection of experiences which undergo
expansion every moment we experience new occurrences. As such, the ways in which an
individual saturates his environment and himself with meaning heavily relies on the kind and
depth of knowledge and understanding. On the other hand, the kind of knowledge imbued in an
individual greatly depends on what they have learned and his state of memorization. Human
beings take in new pieces of data and information for storage in the brain on a daily basis.
However, Hammoud et al. (2019) explain that the processes of recalling and putting the stored
information to use heavily rely on the prevailing needs. Such a phenomenon could be attributed
to the fact that the human brain has the ability to initiate the processes of acquiring new skills
and experiences, as well as initiating the storage of the newly learned skills and experiences for
future use. As such, the entire cycle of acquiring, storing, using and reusing experiences and
skills informally encompasses the human memory system. Everything a human being does
greatly depends on his state of memory, which retains its state of activity at all times, acquiring
new pieces of information from the bodily senses, initiating updates of the existing knowledge
by applying focus and attention, retrieval of the skills and experiences stored, and initiating
planning activities for the future operations.

Types of Memory
There are two types of memory in human beings- long term and short term memory.
According to Viswanathan, Mylavarapu and Thomas (2018), the categorization of human
memory relies on variables such as the state of storage and retrieval of information, and the
number of brain regions involved in the processes of storing and re...
