Abraham is an essential figure in both Judaism and Christianity, and there exist
common elements and both religions trace and share a heritage through Abraham. Abraham
is the shared father of both Christians and Jews. He is considered the Christian spiritual
father, with the New Testament being based on his teachings and the patriarch of the Hebrew
Torah. Abraham stands as the central figure in the relationship between good and human
beings according to both Judaism and Christianity. Both religions attest to the excellent
relationship between God and Abraham. He is faithfully obedient to God, and God shines
favor on him.
There are various instances where Abraham demonstrates his faith and obedience to
god. Accounts regarding this demonstration of faith in both Christianity and Judaism are
similar. Both religions affirm that Abraham mainly demonstrated his faith in God through
obedience. In his case, there are no miracles of heavenly sighs to guide him. There also exists
no spiritually guided scripture which he can refer back to, but this dissuades Abraham from
obedience. He follows God's direction and puts his trust and faith in him. This obedience,
trust and loyalty are demonstrated when he is put to the test. Abraham is asked by God to
sacrifice his only son Isaac with Sarah.
God had promised Abraham that his promise of descendants would be fulfilled
through his son Isaac. The level of obedience and faith he demonstrates in obeying God's
