What is Human Resource Management?
Human Resource Management (HRM) is an art as well as the science of managing both
people and organizational resources. It is an art because it involves using innovative and creative
approaches to control people in a thorough and structured manner. In broader terms, this part of
HRM includes hiring, retention and firing of people. It also involves implementing change
management strategies, remuneration management, performance management, and taking care of
exits from the company. As a science, HRM involves the precise application of theories to
manage people in the form of relationship between employees and management. It focuses on
the outcomes and objectives of the HRM functions. In an organization, the HRM function
focuses on making the relationship between the management and employees fulfilling as well as
people enabling and development (Anderson et al., 2019).
