How did the Confederacy deal with black people? What roles did black people play in the Confederacy during the Civil War?

Colored people (African American) have played pivotal roles in the evolution of the great nations population expansion within the United States Military. At the onset of civil war, backs were freed from slavery and allowed to enlist. Although proclamations of neglectful  orders were initiated by the confederacy, growing numbers of blacks escalated to 10% at the end of the civil war, severed in and on infantries, artillery's, and surgeons.
