Rhythm and blues, which is also dubbed as rhythm, & blues or just simply R&B, is a
term used to describe types of popular music sang by African-Americans including some
rock music sang by white singers derived from R&B



Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five, “Choo Choo Boogie” and The Ravens, “Write Me a
Letter” are two examples of R&B that were very popular in their times.



The Ravens were a successful American band that was started by Warren Suttles and
Jimmy Ricks in 1946 and were very influential in their field of music of their time.



Tympany five had quite a number of members that included Louis Jordan himself,
Freddie Webster, Clarence Johnson, Courtney Williams, Eddie Boyd, Stafford Simon,
William Austin, and Alex Mitchell among others.



R&B has a combination of different musical elements of pop, funk, soul, and electric
music.
