Describe Facebook, its mission and business model
Facebook is a company that offers social media services where people can interact and
share views with others who have accounts in this company. There are many customers who rely
on their services. Facebook is an organization that was started in 2004 by students in Harvard
College and the founders were classmates as well as roommates. The Facebook services began
within the school and they extended to be what the company offers today across the globe,
(Sutherland, 2012).
The mission is to help the people when it comes to sharing views and making the world a
more connected environment. The customers share with others especially with family and
friends. Many people have friends across the world and this credit can be given to this company
for making people to be united and making the whole world to become a global village,
(Sutherland, 2012).
The business model of Facebook is a unique model because most people use the accounts
for free and can chat and interact with others for free. Through these free services many people
are attracted and it is through this success that many other companies have merged up with this
organization. The company acts as an advertisement platform and it is common to see the word
‘Sponsored’ and this shows that the company which is making an advert on Facebook has paid to
