The DeCoster Case
Austin DeCoster owned and controlled Quality Egg, LLC, an egg production and
processing company with facilities across Lowa. His son Peter DeCoster was the chief operating
officer. Due to unsanitary conditions in some of its facilities, Quality shipped and sold eggs that
contained salmonella bacteria, which sickened several people across the United States (Cross and
Miller).
