Question 1
Sometimes back, I used to work for a computer manufacturing and networking firm in the
technical support department. One day, my shift was extended, and I had to work late into the
night. As I was about to leave, a male client called complaining that the PC he had purchased
from the firm’s agent some weeks earlier had just crashed, and all he could see was a blue
screen. The client was quite stubborn, and all he wanted was to return it the following day.
However, out of my interest and interaction with computer hardware and software, I knew that
he was talking about the Blue Screen of Death, or the stop error, is a common technical issue
with PCs that results from hardware or problems with its hardware driver software. Calming him
down, I had to establish the cause of the system crash and, therefore, he told me that the machine
had just prompted him to update a certain driver, but crashed a minute into the process. Thus, I
advised him to restart the computer in safe mode and try restoring it using system restore
command. Luckily, he managed to reboot the system and restored his machine to the last known
proper configuration. However, I had to advise him to update or obtain drivers from reputable
and certified manufacturers only to prevent the same from happening in the future. This taught
me the importance of communication and having product knowledge.
Question 2
I remember once when a projector we were using at a videoconferencing stopped projecting in
the middle of the meeting. It is imperative that the session could not continue without it and,
therefore, someone had to act promptly and establish the problem....
