Description

1. In chapter one, James and Gilliland (2017) present five fundamental crisis intervention models (equilibrium, cognitive, psychosocial transition, developmental-ecological, and contextual-ecological). After reviewing each of these models, please share which one resonates with you most and why? Which model resonates with you the least? Why?

Should be at least 200 words in length, adhere to APA style, and appropriately attend to all components of the writing prompts.

I will attach the pictures of the textbook as well.

2. Would you describe yourself as liberal or conservative on social issues? Identify specific beliefs you hold related to how human services are delivered that support whether you are liberal or conservative.

I WILL ATTACH THE POWEWRPOINT FOR THIS AS WELL.

3. On page 43, De Waal writes that it would be a miracle "if we had [the] fancy cognition that we believe we have while our fellow animals had none of it".  Is this really such a 'miracle'?  Or are there other faculties humans have that other animals do not that set a kind of precedent for human exceptionalism?

They are typically funded by individuals, religious and other groups, and the government • The scope of human services work can be controversial and a health service worker’s role will be dependent on the current needs and political climate © 2018 Cengage. All Rights Reserved. Lab #1 Generate 3 research ideas Due date is Wednesday January 29th. Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to get you thinking about the research project you want to do for the course. Remember that your research project will involve collecting data from NKU students. You will then analyze that data and write your APA-formatted manuscript summarizing the results. Criteria: The criteria for this assignment will be listed below. Be sure to include: 1. 3 testable research ideas 2. Ideas about how you will test those ideas 3. Possible outcomes for each research idea 4. What each outcome would mean Example: Idea #1: I want to know if attempting to recall information benefits memory more than restudying that information. Plan: To test this idea, I will have participants either study a list of words by reading them for 8 seconds each a total of 3 times (Study – Study – Study) OR I will have participants study the list of words 1 time and then try to freely recall the list of words (Study – Test – Test). I will put the materials into a PowerPoint presentation that is timed. Outcomes: There are 3 possible outcomes for this experiment. It could be that Studying > Testing, Testing > Studying, or there is no difference between the two (Studying = Testing). Interpretation: If testing > studying, that would suggest students should test themselves to learn word lists. If studying > testing, that would suggest that students should restudy information to learn word lists. If there is no difference, that would suggest that students can use the strategy of their choice. Assignment Tips / Guidelines: Your submission should adequately demonstrate that you have 3 testable research ideas, and that you have thought about ways to test those ideas. Later on, you may modify how you want to test your ideas (based on my feedback, or based on things you read in the literature). That is fine. But for now, do your best to have a concrete plan of attack. To get started think about these sentence structures: “I’ve always wondered if ________ is better than _________.” “Does _______ matter? How could I test that?” “Why is it that __________ is so _________?” Brainstorming: If you are absolutely stuck, you can poke around in the literature for potential ideas on topics that interest you. Additionally, I recommend just listing a bunch of ideas all at once without giving any serious thought to them. You will be surprised how many you can generate in this manner. Afterward, you can find the best ones and explore them.

FUNDAMENTAL CRISIS INTERVENTION MODELS
Introduction
Crisis and emergencies have become part and parcel of the human environment.
Calamities and disasters, for instance, war, diseases, drought, and famine break- have turned out
to be a common phenomenon. As a result, it is prudent to have clear guidelines to help intervene
in such an urgent occurrence. Through this, Gilliland & James, 2017, came up with a set of skills
that can aid psychologists, social workers, and the entire fraternity of human service providers to
respond effectively in crises. There are five fundamental models applicable in crisis cases;
however, this paper will focus on the one which resonates better and the one that resonates the
least. An understanding crisis is of considerable significance as it helps service providers to be
more efficient in how they respond to such situations.
Equilibrium Model of Crisis Intervention
Equilibrium is the initial stage when intervening in disastrous situations and happenings
such as terrorist attacks. It is wise to understand that conflict makes individuals be in an unstable
state where their thought mechanism and general life altered (James & Gilliland, 2017). The
models aim at restoring victims to the initial life they led before a crisis occurred. It is a crucial
phase since before addressing the factors that triggered the change of situations, the individual
needs to be assisted back to the normal life status.
It is restoring an individual or victim to a state where they can be able to understand
where they are, the situation that transpired, an...
