This week, you will be listening to music from the early Rock and Role genre. As you have read this week, Rock and Roll was a term first coined by DJ Alan Freed in the 1950s. Rock music was often synonymous with R&B in the early years. However, Rock and Roll, with the exception of Little Richard and Chuck Berry, began with white artists “covering” hits that would have at one time be considered R&B. In addition to your etextbook, you should expect to complete some research online to respond to these questions. Rock and roll early music
Rock and roll is a group of popular songs that evolved from the United States. The music
genre consists of jazz, boogie, country music, blues, and others. It acquired the real name rock and
roll in the 1950s.
Bibliography of the two artists
Bill Halley was a musician born in 1925 in Michigan. He went an operation when he was
four years that left him blind. William Albert Haley, was the father to Haley who played banjo and
mandolin. The mother was called Maude Green, who came from England (Haley and
Benjaminson, 2019). The mother was technically a keyboardist with classical training. He started
performing when he was 13 years old. He left his home when he was fifteen years to look for fame
and fortune. He stayed in poverty for a while, and after some time, he got a job with a popular
group called Down Homers. Afterward, he became a music director at WPWA radio station in
Pennsylvania.
