The Current Number of Uninsured Americans
The Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) was adopted to ensure every American
citizen acquires affordable healthcare services. However, despite the ACA policy
implementation, by 2019, most of the citizens remain without healthcare insurances due to
different reasons. According to Kominski, Nonzee, and Sorensen (2016), by 2016, the
number of uninsured had increasingly gone down, leaving only 32 million people uninsured.

However, in 2019, the number of uninsured Americans rose from 23.6 million to 27.5 million
since the enactment of the ACA. Low-income citizens were the most affected (Census
Bureau, 2019).
