From the historical times, there have been transformations in the labor market because of
the reaction of people opposing the different working system. As a result, the government has
been pushed to characteristically create, approve and govern particular laws for labor unions. As
defined by Workplace Fairness (2020), a labor union is an organization of workers who come
together with an aim of protecting their mutual interests and enhancing their working conditions.
As such, labor unions serve as a go-between between employees and the employer. All through
the history labor force in America, the government has undertaken a critical role in creating
legislation and implementing policies to be adhered to by all parties. The federal legislations
broadly regulating labor unions have significantly changed the function and look of labor unions.
The laws have been important in protecting the workers from unfair labor practices and as well
protecting owners of organizations from unreasonable union practices since the influence of
unions in the workplace has flowed and ebbed. In this paper, three pieces of enacted legislation
that have been critical in defining the rights of management and unions are discussed and they
include; the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the Labor Management Relations Act (TaftHartley Act), and the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (Landrum-Griffin). The
