interested in management, few take their time to evaluate, accept and execute all their
responsibilities effectively (McConell, 2003). The needs of subjects or subordinates should be
above the needs and desires of leaders. However, the needs of clients should be regarded as
primary needs. This means that a great leader can only be satisfied when the other parties are
satisfied. The fundamental difference between leaders and subordinates is authority to give
direction. However, leaders should inspire team spirit in their particular teams. Leaders should
also appreciate their role as a learning process because they are also accountable to other
superiors in the organizational structure. A great leader should therefore be intelligent, should be
an individual who gives the organization and employee needs first priority and he or she should
be a commendable role model as well as a proficient facilitator in improvement strategies for the
organization. Most importantly, the leader needs to be aware of the importance and principles of
diversity and inclusion in today’s global and competitive market (Luthans, 2013).
