The recent changes in family nature have characterized by increased divorce rates.
Harkonen (2014) describes divorce as a sign of social and moral disruption whose impacts can
be devastating on families and society as a whole. The problem of separation has been prevalent
not only in the United States but also in many other parts of the world. According to Glaeser
(2014), at least 50% of marriages in modern society end in divorce. Consequently, I selected this
social problem to try and understand the major contributing factors to the increased divorce rate
and also analyze its impacts on individuals and society.
The increased marital dissolution has been linked to a number of influential factors, some
of which include increased education level and employment among women, infidelity, different
