Maggie and Dee who are stark contrast of each other. Maggie is reserved, timid and
conventional while Dee her elder sister is educated, outgoing and assertive. This story
portrays a conflicted mother-daughter relationship between the mother “Mama” and her two
daughters. Despite her liberalism and ignorance of the family history, Dee still holds dear her
