"Literature adds to reality it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigated the deserts that our lives have already become. " (C.S. Lewis)
It means we have specific competencies or things that we do in our daily living like from school or work to going to pizza shop. Literature can enrich such competencies or things by mundane experiences by changing our perceptive and a scene that looks like a desert seems to like as an well flourishing crop. In simple words, this literature conveys meanings such as if there are two people who talking about a same situation, and each of them grasp totally different meaning from each other about this situation. Also, A single person who experiences at same situation before and after eating, may judges its meaning totally different.
