My interview was with a single mother who has a girl named Kate, who has been living
with Down syndrome. In her case, she lives alone and works as a nurse in a local hospital. The
mother has managed to buy a house, and they live near a small town. The daughter is eight years
and happens to be a very jovial girl. She has many interests, such as athletics and singing, but in
her case, she enjoys acting more. I sat down with Jane, her mother, in the effort to get a hint of
her journey so far in raising a child who has been diagnosed with Down syndrome.
As we started the interview, I asked how she found that her daughter had Down
syndrome. In her case, she asserted that it was in one of her regular visits to the doctor. The
