My professional leadership approach is democratic. I understand that the organization is
made up of people. I look at people and their positions in terms of their responsibilities and not
status. I consult in decision-making matters. I solicit, value and take other people's opinions into
account but remember that the ultimate decision lies in my hands. Democratic leadership is
useful because it allows other people to share their views about how things should be done in an
organization, thereby enriching the organization's possibilities (Dyczkowska, 2018).

Management includes executing a vision, directing day-to-day operations, managing
processes, and catering for the needs of the people in the organization. In contrast, leadership
understand the organization's vision and involves the team in charting a future path. Leadership
consists in walking side by side with employees, inspiring them, communicating the team
progress and any challenges and challenging the team members to think outside the box. My
management skills involve directing the daily operation in my department at work and catering
to the needs of the team in my department.
