Ascena retails a variety of clothing for both women and girls. The company mainly
operates in Canada, the US, and Puerto Rico. The company deals with various brands such as
Maurices and Dressbarn that value fashion. The company has been able to pursue valueenhancing diversification path through acquiring new brands in its field of business. For
instance, in 2015, Ascena Company managed to acquire significant apparel companies, whose
brands were included in the existing line of the Dressbarn and Lane Bryant. Through the two
acquisitions, Ascena was assured of expanding its diversification path and establishing sturdy
market power. The diversification was also guaranteed by the fact that Loft and Ann Taylor had
