Q1. Discussion Post:
With the growth of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and similar services from
Google and hundreds of smaller companies, the cloud has become a major factor in how
enterprise storage administrators make decisions. Storage the data locally, or in the cloud?
These decisions have major impacts on business for a variety of reasons. Given recent data
breaches by hackers worldwide and the continuing emphasis on data security, is it a
positive that companies are moving to the cloud? Why or why not? Explain your answer.
It is positive that companies are moving to the cloud. Notably, in the era of cloud storage,
it is paramount for organizations to maintain the security of their data. Cloud storage has virus
protection. The backup service software detects virus before data is transferred. When any virus
found the file to be send is flagged and not copied to the backup service. The user is notified that
the file has not been deleted from the computer, however, there is no backup for such data file.
Remarkably, cloud storage offers several benefits to the end users and all organizational
types. With cloud computing, there is an improved efficiency. This is both in remote access and
in working arrangements. Users are in a position to access data from anywhere of their choice as
long as there is internet access. There is significant cost savings as there is no the purchase of
several license fees. It is the biggest benefit of cloud computing as there is the elimination of the
investment in servers. The cloud’s capabilities are leveraged to save on the license fees.
