In the current generation, it is difficult to find parents who have the skills that are
required and necessary to raise a child so that he or she will grow up in a positive environment
where they will feel comfortable. Ineffective parenting is very dangerous, and it may arise by a
lack of proper parenting skills. Some of the dangers that arise from ineffective parenting include
depression, antisocial behavior, and poor resilience.
The danger of ineffective parenting to a child
Depression
Depression is one of the adverse effects that destroy a child future, and it mainly is as a
result of ineffective parenting. A negative approach by parents towards their children results in
higher susceptibility to depression, especially when such parents do not accord their children the
necessary attention to their personal issues. Depression is categorized as a mental illness, and if a
child doesn’t get medical assistance in time, their condition can get even worse than expected
(Kabiri, Shadmanfaat, & Donner, 2019). Furthermore, depression in children is brought out by
bad parenting action like physical punishment, unhealthy expression of negative emotions and
also a low level of physical and emotional support.
