Drawing the Carbon Cycle Points 10 More drawing! This time, I want you to sketch the carbon cycle, which is a biogeochemical process by which carbon atoms move between the atmosphere (as carbon dioxide), living material, soils, and water. A little research will reveal dozens of examples. At a minimum, the following elements need to be present on your drawing: • • • Photosynthesis, respiration, biomass, soils, fossil fuels, combustion, atmospheric CO 2, ocean carbon. Arrows connecting elements of the cycle The net annual increase of atmospheric carbon. This will require a bit of digging; report either in parts per million (ppm) or gigatons of carbon per year (GtC/y). Please scan your image, or take a photograph of it.
