Description

As part of a global environment, managers need to be aware of many legal regulations and customs of the countries they do business with. For this assignment, you will focus on how different countries accommodate disabilities.

To begin with, revisit how the U.S. accommodates disabilities through the Americans with Disabilities Act. Next, choose a country other than the United States and Japan to research. Study how disabilities are accommodated in that country (e.g., is there an equivalent to the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations in school, accessible areas, etc.?) Compare and contrast these accommodations with the U.S. information on how disabilities are accommodated here.

Be sure to include a short overview of the selected country and/or culture as a whole. Also include how the accommodation of disabilities affects the management of a diverse, international workforce. Submit an APA-formatted, 3-page paper on the topic, including appropriate citations as outside research is required.

DISABILITY ACCOMMODATIONS
For a very long time, people with disabilities were discriminated and their rights
forgotten. They were given few opportunities and their needs were not taken that seriously.
Today the United States protects the people with disabilities through the Americans with
Disabilities Act of 1990. The disabled people can access equal employment opportunities, equal
transport service, equal government services and they can access quality accommodation. The
government aims at treating all the citizens equally at all times.
Though there are Acts and Bills that are signed into law in many nations regarding these
people, most nations have never reformed as expected and many people with disabilities are still
suffering today. There are also those governments that are serious when it comes to the
protection of the rights of these people. One of these nations is the United States, Japan, United
Kingdom and many others that try to make it simpler for those affected by these problems
(O'Reilly, and International Labour Office, 2007).
