National InvestmentsThis is the third of a multi-part case study for a company called National Investments. Part of your work over the course of the semester will be to design and build a database for this fictional company. Though fictitious, the narrative and issues discussed are very real for many companies. You must read these case studies carefully and thoroughly to fully understand their business and their needs. This is part of the requirement for building effective and efficient databases.Your continued work is getting noticed! You have started the design for the new database (as rudimentary is it might be, at the moment), you have been thinking about requirements gathering, and about further questions that you believe need to be asked and answered for you to continue your work.In one of your most recent emails you asked for a sample of the data currently being used that needs to be part of this new database design.You have been supplied with Excel examples of data currently maintained by the organization. Thinking through the work you have already completed with these additional pieces of information your job now is to prepare a first-draft drawing of the database using Draw.io as your tool of choice.This first-draft drawing and additional materials, as noted below, are in preparation for your next meeting with the partners.AssignmentPurpose:You begin reflecting back to the memo you wrote initially and then to the interview questions and answers and the proposal you most recently submitted. At that time, you had only a vague understanding of the business and you did a rough sketch of a few tables that you thought would be required for this database design. Now that you are reviewing some of the data provided to you that rough sketch needs to become a first-pass diagram of the new database solution. Your initial ideas for tables may or may not still hold in light of the data that you have now received.Task:Your assignment is to submit a Word document or PDF containing all the following:A copy of your Draw.io diagram of the database design as you have it thus far. You can simply export your as a .png image file, and then insert that image into your word document.Identify at least three additional questions related to data and structure you would want answered to continue your overall design.With respect to the database design, you must make sure it includes all of the following:This diagram should incorporate everything you know about the company thus far and show as many tables as you believe needed given the information at your disposal to-date.For each table list the attributes (columns) you believe will be required.You will also need to identify the connecting points between tables. We don't need to be concerned with issues of cardinality yet or the types of relationships, just that there will be a relationship of some kind and what the common columns are on both sides of the relationship.Finally, you will need to identify the primary key for each table.Criteria:Think of this assignment as being a progress report. It must be brief but informative. You will want to include all of the sections listed above in the criteria and you want to do so as professionally as possible. Each of the task points above should be included in their own section. The report should open with a brief introduction providing a short executive summary of the contents of this longer report. Much of your work in this assignment is understanding the data provided and determining how best the data should be divided into individual entities (tables) such that we eliminate as much duplicated data as possible, while also being mindful of the anomalous conditions that we also wish to avoid: insertion and deletion anomalies, as discussed in this unit.Submission:You will submit a single document in either Word of PDF format to Blackboard.
