Introduction
Blackmail is a 1929 motion picture written and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The film
stars Cyril Richard, John Longden, and Anny Ondra. The movie tells the story of a Londoner
who is blackmailed after she kills a man trying to assault her sexually. Hitchcock based this
movie on another 1928 film with the same title. Initially, the movie was supposed to be a
silent motion picture. However, the production company decided to change it into a talkie. In
general, Alfred Hancock used sound exceptionally to support the narrative of Blackmail.
