Today’s society is characterized by increased proliferation of mobile devices attributed to
technological development. This comes at a time when there is an increased reliance on the
Internet of Things, cloud computing and big data. As a result, mobile devices such as
smartphone, tablets among others have become so helpful. They are readily available and also
easy to use. The mobile devices can also handle voluminous data daily. This can be easily
extracted to facilitate investigations. Crime does not isolate technology (Umar, Riadi, &
Zamroni, 2018). Therefore, technological devices are rich in information making them a
significant part of the digital forensics. Investigating agents are now relying on these devices to
