Successful completion of this assignment requires that you provide a rationale, include examples, and reference content from the studies in your responses. Qualitative Studies Background of Study 1. Summary of studies. Include problem, significance to nursing, purpose, objective, and research question. How do these two articles support the nurse practice issue you chose? 1. Discuss how these two articles will be used to answer your PICOT question. 2. Describe how the interventions and comparison groups in the articles compare to those identified in your PICOT question. Method of Study: 1. State the methods of the two articles you are comparing and describe how they are different. 2. Consider the methods you identified in your chosen articles and state one benefit and one limitation of each method. Results of Study 1. Summarize the key findings of each study in one or two comprehensive paragraphs. 2. What are the implications of the two studies in nursing practice? Ethical Considerations 1. Discuss two ethical consideration in conducting research. 2. Describe how the researchers in the two articles you choose took these ethical considerations into account while performing their research. © 2019. Grand Canyon University. All Rights Reserved. Points Earned Literature Evaluation Table Student Name: Summary of Clinical Issue (200-250 words): Hypertension lists as one of the nursing problems that affect the normal living of an individual. Hypertension refers to a long-term condition where the blood pressure in the arteries is persistently high. In most cases, referred to as high blood pressure and risks the life of the patient as it can be prone to other heart diseases. Some of the symptoms of hypertension are headache, fever, and shortness in a breath but most patients do not have any symptoms until the condition gets to lifethreatening levels. The two types of hypertension are primary and secondary depending on the cause among adults. Primary hypertension is common among adults and is caused by unidentifiable factors. Secondary hypertension is caused by underlying factors such as kidney failure and diabetes. Medical statistics show that adults especially men above the age of 40 falls under a higher risk of suffering from hypertension. Medically, the condition is termed as a lifestyle disease because it requires management based on daily activities. Some of the recommended lifestyle management activities are exercise and a balanced diet. Clinical management of hypertension is applicable under certain circumstances especially that cause cardiac diseases. Hypertension as a medical problem calls for further research to define a specific treatment approach to replace the management guidelines. © 2019. Grand Canyon University. All Rights Reserved. Qualitative Research
Background of the research
In my research, I will evaluate two qualitative articles that suggest different ways in
which hypertension can be managed. Article 2 explains the use of technology to control
hypertension or as others call it high blood pressure. In the article, it emphasizes on specifically
the use of short messaging services to control hypertension. In this case, the patient sends a quick
message to the physician or doctor, and they get feedback in return through the same
communication medium.
The primary purpose of the article is to identify the impact of short messaging services
(SMS) in the management of hypertension (Vargas, Cajita, Whitehouse and Han 2017). It is
mainly interested in the effects caused by the use of such technology when it comes to the
management of hypertension. The author of the article narrowed down on the research question;
how the use of SMS between the patient and physician to communicate affects the management
of hypertension? The use of short messaging services could prove useful or may fail to provide
the services expected.
Article 6 is mainly concerned with the emotions that come with the management of
hypertension. The report elaborates on the attitude and preferences of the clinical medical routine
for the management of hypertension (Tocci, Cicero, Salvetti, Musumeci, Ferrucci, Borghi and
Volpe 2017). It shows the best preference that patients choose to manage their hypertension and
cardiac disease problems. Its main objective is to find out the most preferred process of
hypertension.
Also, to determine how the patient's attitude and emotions are related to the hypertension
management program of preference. The critical research topic or question by the author is; why
