The Temples of Abu Simbel, ancient Egypt’s most astonishing temple, constructed in the
13th century BC by Ramses II is well-thought-out as a wonderful historical site by a number of
travelers spending their vacations in Egypt. The Temple of Abu Simbel is fairly a marvelous
ancient temple in Egypt because of its gigantic size, stunning elements of architecture

Originally carved into the mountainside of the west bank of the Nile, Abu Simbel, was
constructed by the pharaoh Ramesses II (1303-1213 B.C.). Known as the Great Temple and the
Small Temple (Mark, 2013), throughout the heart of the Great Temple there is an extensive
amount of artwork indicating that the Great Temple was constructed, primarily, to commemorate
Ramesses' conquest at the Battle of Kadesh over the Hittites in 1274 BCE. Located on the border
of Egypt with Sudan, the Abu Simbel Temple is a huge temple made with the rock. The most
well-known builder in ancient Egypt, Ramses II started the construction work for Temples of
