Abstract
The world of software is evolving and this have actully improved the lives of many
individuals. Servers have come to make the work of computing easier. Servers have come in
various type. Server applications1, which simply refers to software programs that enhances the
operation of a server in a client server environment. Knowledge of installation and configuration
of these applications is very important to individuals who are interested in the concept of cloud
storage. Cloud sstorage have revolutionized the way individuals share and retrieve data.

Introduction
A server simply refers to a program that waits for a clients program to make a request
then it responds to that particular request. A single application from a computer may act as the
client. In this mode of operation, it will request for services. This services will be offered by
other programs. The sever may also request for services from other programs.
Server/client applications are a group of programs that run on the client computer. Its
main role is to make requests to a server in a remote location. Due to their highly complicated
nature, high level visual programming languages are used to create them.If the programmer
writes this applications in a crossplatform languges, they can act as cross platform applications.
This can be achieved if the individuals tasked with coding the application does so using a
crossplatform approach.
Some of this server applications include web server application commonly called web
browsers, application server software,Cloud computing server software , Database server
applications for storage, and File server applications2.The above mentioned applications are
