Description
In the first half of the assignment, you will prepare for Walmart to operate in a foreign market. You will need to analyze at least two leadership models and/or styles to determine which one will be more suitable for leading employees and for responding to stakeholders in a country outside of North America. Determine the leadership competencies that would be beneficial to you as a leader in the selected foreign market. You will choose either Peru, New Zealand, Philippines, Egypt, Czech Republic, or the United Arab Emirates for your analysis. You will also need to compare the concepts of cultural leadership according to how they can be applied in the country that you have selected. You must also determine the leadership skills and practices that should be used in order to foster team and organizational success.
In the second half of the assignment, you will conduct an analysis of the country that you have decided to expand operations into. The analysis must include the rationale for country selection based upon demographic and economic data. Lastly, the analysis should inform leadership about the country’s culture based upon GLOBE’s nine dimensions of culture as argued in Northouse (2018). Incorporate each of the nine dimensions of culture in an analysis that will be hypothetically presented to Walmart leadership. When utilizing the nine dimensions, current information about the culture of the selected country must be utilized. The purpose of this preliminary analysis is to make sure that the leadership team understands the complexities of expanding into the country that you have selected. The paper should be eight to ten double-spaced pages and include five scholarly references.
In your paper,
- Analyze the demographic and economic data of a country that Walmart is currently not operating in.
- Conduct an analysis for Walmart leadership about the country’s culture based upon the GLOBE’s nine dimensions of culture.

Introduction
Walmart is a department store that ass began in 1950 in America, and it engages in the
both wholesale and retail business. James Laurence and Samuel Moore founded it.Its
headquarters is located in Bentonville, AR. It offers a merchandise assortment, and its services
are available every day at a meager price. It has various business segments that are located in the
Walmart U.S, Sam's Club, and Walmart international. Walmart's business operates as a
consumer product merchandiser. It has various brands that it produces. These brands include
Wal-Mart, Walmart Neighborhood Market, and e-commerce and walamart.com brands. There is
a segment of the Walmart that is international. It deals with supermarkets, supercenters,
warehouse clubs, and hypermarkets in the USA (Money.cnn.com, 2020).
There have been various ventures in the last ten years; for instance, in 2005, two Walmart
experimental stores were opened in Texas and McKinney. These stores featured solar panels,
boilers, refrigerators, wind turbines, and xeriscape gardens. The Company has not had smooth
running since, amid its operations, some shortcomings include legal troubles whereby the
employees sued the Company because of the unpaid wages. Others filed cases of discrimination
and being profiled out of the business. The Company made every effort to handle these cases to
maintain its customers and have control over them in the future (Money.cnn.com, 2020).
It has expanded its operations to many countries that include Argentina, Brazil, Chile,
Canada, Japan, and many other countries. However, its services have not reached all the states.
There exists a proposal, therefore, for Walmart to venture into new markets and specifically a
foreign exchange. The target country is Egypt
Demography of Egypt
Egypt stands out as the most popular Arabic country. Many parts of the country are
desert, and 95 % of the Egyptians live along the river Nile. This region is the only fertile region,
and it represents only 5% of the area of Egypt's land. The population of Egypt is a rapidly
growing population standing at 46% growth. This rapidly growing population puts pressure and
stress on the limited natural resources, housing, jobs, sanitation, healthcare, and education. The
fertility rate stands at 5.5 children per woman in the last three decades
(Worldpopulationreview.com, 2020). However, the price has been falling because of a long life
expectancy and a decreased rate of mortality. In 2011, the total Fertility rate was 3.6 and
plateaued at that level. There has been a move to prevent Egypt from becoming overpopulated.
Hence, the use of contraceptives has been encouraged, and the post-Mubarak government has to
do much more to effect this by promoting education and empowerment of women and, at the
same time, help them to have smaller families. There has been a high level of rural-urban
migration because of unemployment and land holdings fragmentations, Alexandria, which is
south to Cairo, receives many of the migrants.
In contrast, the Red sea receives the smallest migrants. In 2020, the estimated population
of Egypt is 102.33million people, and it is ranked 14th worldwide. The ethnics of Egypt include
the Greeks, Turks, Abazas, and Bedouin Arabs. Arabic is the official language in Egypt, and the
upper-class people speak French and English (Adams, 2019).
Economy of Egypt
The freedom score of Egypt's economy is 52.5, and it has ranked the 144th in the 2019
index as the freest economy. From the 2019 index, the combination of imports and exports of
Egypt equated to 44.8 % of the GDP. Concerning the open market, according to WTO, this
country had nontariff measures of 156 in force. There are some restrictions when it comes to
foreign investors into the economy. More than 40% of Egyptians have an account that has formal
banking approval (Heritage.org, 2020).
Leadership models
These guidelines dictate the behavior of the leaders in a particular situation or
environment. There are various models, such as Managerial grid, four framework approach, and
situational leadership, among many others. The managerial Grid aims ate, focusing on the
concerns of the leader towards the people, and the task to predict the leadership outcome. The
situational leadership focuses on guiding the leader on the knowledge and coaching needed to
build a worker in certain situations. Without these models, the administration would be
challenging (Nwlink.com, 2020)
For a company like Walmart that targets to open its new operations in Egypt, it needs a
managerial Grid leadership model for the Company to break even with the shortest time possible.
This model will help Walmart leader to have concerns for the people and the tasks. The approach
to both the employees and the product will be powerful. Despite the venture into the new
country, the Grid leadership model promotes leadership as a process that influences others to
focus on goal attainment. It will, therefore, see the success of Walmart in Egypt. (Ghasabeh and
Provitera, 2018).
Various business competencies are mandatory for the success of Walmart in Egypt. Blake
and mouton claim that for leaders to be exceptional, they should have skills that include building
personal accountability and trust, agility, and delivering on the commitments. These three
commitments are crucial for the success of Walmart's new venture in Egypt (Blake & Mouton,
1985). The new leaders in Egypt must have these competencies if Walmart is to break even in
Egypt.
Cultural leadership
This concept involves leading in the sector of cultural diversity. It concerns directors and
managers in institutions that have subsidized cultures. It is creative, and it is rooted in...
