Ferroelectricity - physical phenomenon observed in some crystals, called ferroelectrics, in a certain temperature range and is the appearance of the spontaneous polarization of the crystal, even in the absence of an external electric field. Ferroelectrics differ from piroelectrics that at a certain temperature (the so-called dielectric Curie point) of crystalline modification changes and spontaneous polarization disappears.
Crystalline modification, in which the spontaneous polarization is observed called polar phase, and in which there is not - the non-polar phase.
Ferroelectricity phenomenon similar to the phenomenon of ferromagnetism.
