Representation
Groups clash in their interpretation of the representation concept because of the level of complexity
the concept constitutes. This concept can mean being devoted to serve and satisfy the interest of
those you represent, or appreciating legislatures to act based on what they see as best for the public.
This reflection paper will focus on the representation concept by defining what it means to be
represented and examining whether the United Sates Congress is accomplishing this task of
representation. Further, the paper will analyze the Federalists’ representation arguments as well as
the arguments by the Anti-Federalists.
When someone is “represented,” it merely means that the representative is acting on behalf of that
person. It means that the interest of the person is what dictates the actions taken by the
representative. Therefore to be represented is to be considered as the central player in every
decision made by the representative. In the United States, the representation role is among the
central roles entitled to its Congress (Young, 2018). The body is responsible for representing the
citizens. The members of Congress serve their constituents: the residents in the district from which
they are elected. Congress has the power to prove or disapprove a bill before it is taken to the
