Question Description

Three discussion questions - 75 to 100 words and please include the discussion question with the response in the completed work.

1.) In addition to the hugely beneficial social reforms that were made, how did The New Deal benefit artists?  What are some examples of this?

2.) What are some of the idealized images of the "authentic" America being conveyed in the works of this time?  Why were these Regionalist images popular in magazines and other commercial art?  What was the practical purpose of it?  Was it a fair representation of life in the United States at the time?  Who and what were included - and missing - from these idealized images of America?

3.) What are some examples of art that was a result of the Great Depression that was hopeful or inspiring? What do you think of the government's intentions?  Was this type of art effectual?
