Mass shootings have increased over the past decades, prompting the need to implement better gun
control systems. This case study analyzes the events that took place on December 14, 2012 at
Sandy Hook Elementary School, where Mr. Adam Lanza shot twenty-six people and committed
suicide. Twenty elementary school children were killed during the shooting. The mass shooting of
students is one of many that have occurred in the country within the past decade. This case analysis
addresses the factors that made the shooting possible and suggests measures that could have been
taken to prevent its occurrence.
