1. How was slavery established and practiced in England’s North American colonies?
Slavery in the North American colonies began with the use of indentured slaves who
were men and women who had signed a contract to work for some years in exchange for
benefits such as food, clothing, and shelter at the end of the contract. Indentured slaves
were however replaced with slavery where the laborers were considered property of the
plantation owner.
