There are a few fundamental things you need to know when taking care of a 2-year-old
and 6-year-old. Once you understand the basics, you do not have to worry. They both fall under
the early childhood category, so they share similarities, and there are notable differences that will
guide you in relating with them and responding to their needs effectively. In the biosocial
domain, there are obvious physical differences as both the height and the weight of the 6-yearold are likely to be more than those of the 2-year-old (Berger, 2018). The older child is slimmer
compared to the younger one because the muscles replace the fat. Both children are likely to be
walking, but the 6-year-old has a more stable posture since the center of gravity moves to the
belly and can maintain his or her balance to do cartwheels or summersaults. On the other hand,
the 2-year-old is still delicate and can easily harm himself or herself if you do not monitor her
movement. While sleep is normal for both, 6-year-olds have a more regular sleep pattern. Both
