OL 125 Final Project Reflection Lorenzo Williams Human Relations Admin February 23, 2020 Personality and Self Concept I have taken a number of assessments in the previous weeks. These assessments provided feedback that are very essential for my goals, style, leadership skills, personality, and the way for implementing them in the environment of the workplace. I have found through these assessments that I possess good motivational and communication skills as a leader, I lead by example, I am a problem-solver, along with possessing a creative type of personality. When the time comes for delegating the load of work, I lead and try to communicate positively regarding what must be accomplished, along with communicating my expectations to each team member. I concentrate on delegating the part of the project to the team member who in my opinion will outshine in a particular area. This approach cuts down lost time and errors. When there is a need for problemsolving, taking a creative approach, along with coming up with straight forward solutions is a good strategy. By taking every module’s assessment, I was capable of finding out my certain weaknesses and strengths in leadership. I came to know that I must better manage my time, along with working on my projects by not overloading myself. I must delegate more often, along with providing opportunity and trust to my team. I came to know that with the intention of getting improved as a leader, there is a need for reviewing these areas, along with implementing what has been learned. This will assist in making me a leader that is successful in attaining the goals. Human Interaction Skills In my opinion, becoming a greater leader takes experience and time. One must be a motivational, and engaging type of individual. Some ways for creating a great working environment include leading by example and getting to know the workforce on a personal level deprived of exceeding specific professional boundaries. With the help of this approach, the team would be engaged, focused, and motivated. Taking the additional step as a leader for showing appreciation, for example, bonuses and incentives, showing fairness to members of the team, and stimulating them for believing they are part of the family and team create a positive culture at the workplace. All of these are the instances of the Hierarchy of Needs theory by Maslow. Basic satisfaction needs of human beings are explained by this theory (Bauer & Erdogan 2016, pg.2.5) Personal Development Plan My philosophy of personal leadership is that I always put myself in other’s shoes. I treat others as I like others to treat me, i.e., with appreciation, respect, and honor. First Goal: Completing my Degree For completing this goal, practical steps that can be taken include the completion of every course work, along with receiving passing grades for receiving credit. The possible hurdles that might be faced throughout this process would include an environmental crisis and my family issues. By being focused, communicating with the academic advisor and my instructors, these hurdles can be overwhelend, along with having a greater chance for successfully accomplishing this goal. Second Goal: Graduating For graduating with honors, major steps that can be taken include the submission of quality projects within the due date. There is a need for checking every detail in the provided syllabus, along with looking at the details of the assignment. This will enable for hitting every point required for gaining the highest possible score. Potential challenges and obstacles that can be faced would include the problem related to time management, procrastination, and unforeseen emergencies. The implementation of a solid routine every week, and communicating with academic advisors and instructors will assist me in overcoming these hurdles and working through any further concerns that might present themselves, and prevent me from attaining the goal. Third goal: Being hired as a Project Manager For attaining this goal, practical steps that can be taken include working at SNHU with career services. Career services can be accessed, and they can assist in providing valuable resources and tools that can assist in interview processes, contacts, and putting details in the resume. During this process, certain hurdles can also be faced. For example, there would be an obstacle to gaining the appropriate experience. By attaining experience with the help of internships, being persistent, and doing volunteer work, this obstacle can be overwhelmed.
