Baseball and boxing were the first professional games in the country. Baseball to start
with was started between 1861 and 1865. A professional baseball league was started back in
the year 1871. As time passed most of the cities in the eastern side o f the country had
baseball, professional teams. This game became popular in the 1920s when the New York
Yankees won several World Series and became the national champion. This game was played
in the eastern part of the city for a long time until in the years the 1950s when it was extended
to other parts of the country. Some changes were achieved in the early 1970s when the club
owners could also own players virtually (Fair, 2015).
