Introduction
How does the idea of growing everything that a country needs to eat sound? This would
be the start of a whole and also a wealthy country, but the catch would have to be very
hardworking citizens/ workers. Well, this was how the Egyptians of the old and middle age lived.
The main economic activity among these people was farming. However, it is essential to note
that these people adopted the economic activity at 5200 B.C when the rainfall levels in the area
increased. The rainfall levels led to the yearly flooding of the river Nile which would then
deposit nutrient-rich soil on the land.
Another factor that is widely believed to have contributed to this shift to agriculture is the
influence of colonists from South Asia (Curtis 78). Before then, they had alternated between dry
and wet periods, which was not suitable for agriculture. The Egyptians of this time practiced
agriculture in various ways. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the agricultural practices of
people of the old and middle Egypt from their tools to specific agricultural patterns that could be
observed.
