Parking Guidance Information Systems (PGIS) provides a driver with information
concerning the vacancy and locale of parking spots. The technology contained in the PGIS
makes it user-friendly to both the driver and the parking officials. The technology exists in a
systematic composition providing for ease of supervision and management by the officials. One
essential benefit of the PGIS is its efficiency regarding traffic control and timesaving (Yang
458). Without the use of PGIS, drivers would drive around parking spots, trying to find a suitable
parking space. Drivers would also have preferred parking spots leading to the creation of hot
parking zones targeted by numerous drivers. As each driver scrambles for these spots, traffic
congestion ensues. The PGIS helps prevent such situations while simultaneously saving on the
