Introduction
The industrial revolution started in Europe to be specific in Great Britain in the mid18th century. Many researchers have argued that the industrial revolution was the start of
human civilization across the world. The industrial revolution is defined as the start of
innovation and industrialization that influenced economic, social, and cultural development.
Industrialization in Europe is commonly referred to as the First Industrial Revolution because
it was its birthplace. There are various ways in which the industrial revolution transformed the
social, cultural, and economic lives of the Europeans in both 18th C and 19th C, respectively
(Rosen, 2010). However, these changes and impacts were not only positive but also negative
to the Europeans. As a result, the paper will discuss the economic, social, and economic
implications of the industrial revolution in Europe over the 18th and 19th centuries, stating
positives and negatives, respectively.
Economic Impacts of Industrialization to Europeans in the 18th and 19th Centuries
The industrial revolution, which was initiated in Great Britain in the early 18th century,
marked a period of development and innovation. The changes that industrialization brought in
Europe were both positive and negative. Primarily, the industrial revolution influenced positive
economic impacts starting from England as its birthplace spreading to every part of the world
through colonization. Steam engines which were innovated through coal mining changed the
lives of the European people positively because it established water transportation systems.
Goods were transported quickly and cheaply, which boosted trade across Europe (Rosen,
2010). By influencing trade positively, economic developments and growth were impacted,
and it spread to Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, and other parts of Europe.
According to Chen (2019), the industrial revolution shifted an economy based on manual labor
to an industrial and manufacturing process, which influenced economic development.
