Nature of spirituality and ethics versus postmodern relativism
Spirituality is a phenomenon used in Christianity to awaken the true nature of
individuals. Spiritual practice and ethical behavior surpass any particular religion and
traditions. In Christianity, God is the Supreme Being possessing supernatural capabilities.
Therefore, he is considered as the provider of life and the materials owned by humans. From
the Christian perspective, God's wisdom is vast and surpasses human beings' apprehension.
In this case, the dignity and value of humans should be considered necessary in health care
practices (Tabei et al., 2016). The main ethical guideline in Christianity is doing to others
what one would like done back to them. More so, God created human beings in His image
and likeness. In Christianity's understanding, ethical behavior emanates from the realization
that everyone has a connection to all of the earth's life and existing individuals. The
relationship is the holy trinity comprising of the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit.
In contrast, postmodern relativism comprises scientifically inventions that argue
knowledge is developed and learned from cultures and traditions. The central claim is that
truth doesn't exist; instead, it relies on discovered facts. It relates to skepticism and
subjectivism, whereby ideology is highly recognized, stating that humans have no
connectivity to existence (Boyne and Rattansi, 2017). The argument claims that each
individual has purpose primarily and does hold any superiority to other living things on earth.
Therefore, there is a high disregard for the value of human existence in postmodernism.
As a result, healthcare practices violating human dignity, mostly in cases of
