Academic Integrity & Plagiarism in Case Write-ups

Plagiarism, especially from the internet or websites, or from previous class submissions, and from any other source is UNACCEPTABLE and will be dealt severely with under the University’s policy on academic dishonesty. The written case assignment is to be prepared on an individual basis and it is expected that the content of your written case reflects YOUR thoughts and analysis rather than the work of others. One of the criteria applied for grading the quality and originality of written case analysis is as follows:

1. Evidence of ability to size-up the organization’s situation and to identify key problems/issues.

2. Use of appropriate analytical techniques, sound logic, and well-supported arguments in evaluating the organization’s present condition and future prospects.

3. Evidence of ability to formulate realistic and workable recommendations for action.

4. Thoroughness — both (a) scope and coverage and (b) depth of analysis.

5. Evidence of ability to use good communication skills. 6. Evidence of adequate preparation, pride of workmanship, and display of professional attitude and approach. 5 Papers which, in the opinion of the instructor, employ disproportionately poor grammar and poor quality written communication skills will receive up to a two letter grade reduction.

Who are the buyers in the Casino Gambling Industry?
The buyers of this industry are the direct community members, tourists, and wealthy
individuals. The tourists are the main buyers of this industry followed by the wealthy individuals
and the community members. Tourists in the gambling hubs such as New Jersey, Nevada or
Macau in China account for the main consumers of the gambling industry.
What do they buy?
The customers can purchase lottery tickets, buy chips to play games such as Roulette or
Blackjack, which can be exchanged for different monetary values, they also trade in money for
coins to play various slot machines at the chance of gaining more money. The buyers in the
industry are interested in entertaining events. The main motive of the buyers of this industry is to
increase their monetary gains by winning in the entertaining games. The games provided the
buyers with an entertainment event that has the ability to increase the amount of value they have
paid. The games in this industry provide the buyers the ability to increase the value of their initial
investment.
What do you think about the bargaining power of these buyers?
High/Medium/Low? (Choose one)
I believe that the bargaining power of these buyers is low since they do not have
association or group that campaigns for them to get better chances of winning while playing in
the casinos. The buyers are the consumers and therefore are the mercy of the Casino Gambling
companies which have the right to determine how much a game is worth and who have the right
to play in their casinos. The buyers of the casino gambling services have no outlet of stating their
exploitation at the hands of the casino gambling companies. The buyers in the industry rarely get
support and therefore have limited bargaining power to determine the cost of services and
products being offered by the industry. The casino gambling industry can set the amount to pay
for individual games and services without having to consult the buyers which means that the
power in the industry lies with the Casino Gambling industry and services the power to increase
their profits by determining the set prices for their services.
