What are the essential aspects of sustainability as defined in the Brundtland Report?
Based on the Brundtland report, sustainability has been defined as the form of development
that aims at meeting the presumed present needs without necessarily giving a compromise to the
future generation’s ability to being able to realize their own needs. The report implied that there
was a need for the basic human needs’ satisfaction as well as equal sharing of resources among
those nations which are economically poor. This would ensure an equal distribution of wealth and
thereby a sustainable global economy. It should, therefore, be possible for all nations to reach their
sustainable development without having to harm the environment or even leading to the depletion
of the available natural resources ("1: Introduction to Sustainability Humanity and the

As well, the Brundtland report also gave some highlights on three key aspects that hold
