I want to know what an asteroid is composed of.

The asteroids are made of carbon while the ones further away from Sun are made up of silicate rock. The metallic space rocks are made out of up to 80% iron and 20% a mixture of nickel, iridium, palladium, platinum, gold, and different valuable metals.
