Need a reply to two discussion board post………Replies need to be at least 100 words. Discussion Board 1 For this weeks writing assignment I decided to explore Freud's approach to answering the world view questions. While some may disagree completely with Freud's approach, I believe there are some positive and even informative findings that he believed and understood. While Freud may have been an atheist, he still has the ability to make things understandable for everyday life. So just as the video explained "Everything that we have gone through, influences our beliefs".(Donovan) First off we see that Freud was an atheist and his reasoning behind this had to do with the fact that people did not have quality relationships with their fathers so they turned to a so called made up god to satisfy their desires and wants, and in a way I can see why he came to this conclusion. People have always wanted to be accepted and loved, and when that connection is not there they will search for it elsewhere until they can feel loved and wanted. My personal belief is that this is the reason why so many new religions are establishing almost daily. Maybe Freud's approach was a little off balance but it does make one ponder about why he chose this belief. Freud also believed there were two layers to a persons personality, the conscious and the unconscious. I believe that in these circumstances, for example, the unconscious could be a Christian who is living and sin and trying to keep it hidden from everyone else. Freud believed that the unconscious layer was where desires and unfulfilled voids are and we know that everyone has struggles and desires, and Christians are no exception. I perceive this as an example of temperament which is "an individuals behavioral style".(King,2014. pg 302) The reason is simply because as humans we never seem to be satisfied, we always want the biggest and best and will do whatever we can to achieve this. I believe this is what Freud was referring to when he mentioned the unconscious layer which is where we keep all of our private thoughts, feelings, and desires kept. King, L.A.(2013) Experience Psychology. New York, New York.: McGraw-Hill Company Inc. Scott Discussion Board 2 Based on Erikson's socioemotional theory, which operates from the premise of "nature vs. nurture" (Tegrity 2014), depending on how we were raised, we will either feel that we were placed here for a partaricular (perhaps profound) reason, or that we were an accident and perhaps should not be here at all. We may also believe that we may or may not have an identity and a purpose in life outside of our primary caregiver. Throughout each stage of our lives, we have two possible outcomes (King 2013), positive or negative. Each stage's outcome, predisposes us to the next. Perhaps we believe that we were an accident, neglected and demeaned from birth. In that case , we may truly believe that we have no reason to be here, that is what is wrong, and there is no solution (as we see it). On the other hand, if we had nurturing caregivers that encouraged us to find our own identity and purpose in life, we would feel hope. There really would be nothing essentially "wrong" to find a solution for. We might feel that we were put here on this earth because we were wanted, and that we have a particular place that only we can fill. Through experimentation and learning life's lessons (both good and bad), we would advance through life with meaning. Welcome to Tegrity. (n.d.). Tegrity Lecture Capture.
