1. Discuss how obstetricians used ultrasound to advance their professional project.
How did the technology change obstetricians’ definition of the birthing process?
How did the technology influence jurisdiction over the health of the fetus?
Obstetricians used ultrasound to advance their professional project by performing
investigations on how to improve maternity care and other services, including liver
diseases, kidney stones, abdominal pain, and abdominal growths such as tumors,
inflammatory conditions, and pyloric stenosis, among others. The issue of ultrasound
enabled obstetricians to understand the various conditions and find ways of providing the
appropriate diagnoses and treatments (Edvardsson, Small, Persson, Lalos, & Mogren,
2014). Indeed, during the earlier times, obstetricians could not help pregnant women
achieve the required health goals until the arrival ultrasound technology in the early 20th
century. Through ultrasound, obstetricians and other health care professionals could
assess the health of the mother and fetus, as well as provide recommendations in case of
potential complications during pregnancy (Edvardsson et al., 2014). Obstetrician
ultrasound helped to evaluate the health of the fetus, as well as that of the mother. In this
case, obstetricians could intervene in case the fetus developed complications
(Stephenson, McLeod, & Mills, 2016). As such, obstetricians could influence jurisdiction
over the health of the fetus and keep both the mother and unborn child healthy.
3. Why did the MRI scans change from numerical graphs, to visualization with vivid
colors, to gray-scale images without numbers? Who was behind this change and
why?

The use of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) helped physicians to identify
health issues that patients had in order to diagnose them and adopt the appropriate
treatment procedures. Indeed, MRI scans changed from numerical graphs to visualization
with vivid colors, to gray-scale images without numbers in order to represent data
obtained and detect small intensity changes in images of the various parts scanned
