Description

Search the GCU Library and find two new health care articles that use quantitative research. Do not use articles from a previous assignment, or articles that appear in the Topic Materials or textbook.

Complete an article analysis for each using the "Article Analysis: Part 2" template.

Refer to the "Patient Preference and Satisfaction in Hospital-at-Home and Usual Hospital Care for COPD Exacerbations: Results of a Randomised Controlled Trial," in conjunction with the "Article Analysis Example 2," for an example of an article analysis.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

The Need for Proper Article Analysis in Training, Research, and Development of
Healthcare
The past century has seen the best exponential increase in the amount, usefulness,
and applicability of scientific research in healthcare. Numerous diseases have been discovered,
and even more solutions, approaches, and treatments for these variations in health conditions
have been developed. Further, new systematic and operational strategies that affect the overall
outcome of caregiving continue to be developed, making healthcare more efficient (albeit with a
few emerging challenges). The reason for such an explosion in the effectiveness of healthcare in
the past few decades is due to research, more so, scrutiny of research articles. Article analysis is
essential because it investigates and determines the overall contribution of an individual article to
healthcare (or the main healthcare topic, at the very least), in a manner that corresponds to the
current level (quantity and quality) of knowledge available, furthering such expertise and the
applicability of the same in modern healthcare situations. Research article analysis is the basis
from which new healthcare knowledge is propagated, albeit cumulatively, in a manner that
results in the development of increasingly better treatment approaches to the administration of
healthcare (Micallef, 2015).
Also, article analysis is the best form of criticisms of scholarly work in healthcare.
Indeed, article analysis enables authorities in healthcare to scrutinize research articles through
the lenses of fundamental principles of clinical research. In this case, this article analysis
examines two articles on the premise of citation & permalink, the main topic discussed (broad
topic), hypothesis identification & definition, variable identification, the population of interest,
sampling method, and how the data was collected according to the Article Analysis Example 2.
As such, this analysis scrutinizes the procedural value of the quantitative articles identified, it

explains the relative appropriateness of the data collected in a manner that hopes to validate the
approaches used to collect data, topic selection, and otherwise, the suitability of the same.
Criteria for Article Selection
The articles chosen are from the GSU Library, relatively recent- one article was
published in 2015 while the other was published in 2018. The articles were selected on the
premise of simplicity (palatability for analysis), availability, and threshold reviews (all were
peer-reviewed by at least 20 academicians in healthcare).
