(Sorry for the funny formatting in Question 6. Canvas was a bit tricky and wouldn't allow me to format #6 in the same way as the previous questions.)

6. The Great War/ World War I. World War I is an example of a total war in U.S. history. In the context of U.S. history, total was can be defined as "an all-encompassing war that requires a massive joint military and civilian effort. In total warfare, civilians are all expected to make sacrifices and changes to their lives to support the war." Total wars tend to profoundly affect the lives of civilians during times of war. Based on readings and videos from the course, discuss in detail 3-4 examples of how World War I was a total war for American civilians from 1917-1918.
