In what ways is a learning environment supported?
When focusing at Sysco Corporation, it is evident that the company employs a great deal

of learning processes and practice. The company has had a continuous increase in revenues for
the past decade, which is commendable. According to Blanc (2019), a learning environment is
created and designed through various strategies that also foster development of a growth and
success oriented organization. The first strategy for developing a learning environment as used at
Sysco Inc. is developing a team plan. This entails setting one company wide metric for
evaluating progress and personal output such that each employee knows how to evaluate their
progress and output. This helps them to adjust so that they can meet targets. Another important
way through which learning can be supported is by making progress and problems visible
(D'Amato, Macchi, & Tosca, 2016). Making progress and problems visible helps to encourage
employees as well as challenge them to think critically to address the problems. Using team
discussions and meetings could help to address problems as a unit, making it more open and
transparent for all.
According to Blanc (2019), another important strategy for fostering development of a
conducive learning environment is formalizing self-learning as part of the organizational culture.
This strategy helped by giving employees the mandate to identify and solve problems using
critical thinking and inquiry of thought, thus exposing them to situations that inspire learning and
knowledge advancement (Blanc, 2019). There is need to train employees on the various problem
solving techniques such as Kaizen, fish bone diagram, root cause analysis, plan do check act
cycle and many others. Equipping employees with such techniques helps them to be outgoing to
tackle problems at the workplace, which aids their learning. According to Wrenn & Wrenn

(2009), a learning environment can also be supported by encouraging autonomy of employees in
their areas of jurisdiction. This empowers employees to make decisions on their own, while
focusing on offering the most appropriate and successful decision. Availing resources and
equipment to employees is another effective way of promoting a learning environment at the
work place. Most employees learn best through engagement and participation in practical, which
requires use of resources and equipment. Equipping employees with resources and equipment
makes them happier and more willing to engage in their roles and responsibilities, boosting
chances of learning (Blanc, 2019).

How are the learning processes and practices implemented?
According to Forbes Coaches Council (2018), learning processes and practices can be

implemented by conducting the SWOT analysis on an organization, both as a whole as well in
distinct departments. This yields the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to Sysco
Corporation, information that guides in the implementation of new practices and processes
(Forbes Coaches Council, 2018). The SWOT analysis acts as a major source of information and
learning for the employees. Creation of metrics for learning in an organization is another
important strategy for implementing learning processes. Metrics helps to give employees an
